First, you will need a Yahoo ID. Second, you will need to keep your browser cookies turned on. As for the type of AAWR nav menu to choose from well, you will just have to use the Yahoo approved menu which, I might add, is a java menu which sends back to Yahoo (via cookies) information about you and/or your site visitors. You can however, add your site to Soul Search. Just click the link to add your site to "The Search Engine for the World's People of Color".

Naturally, the AfroAmerican WebRing doesn't need pages that don't have anything to do with AfroAmerican related topics. When you decide to join the AfroAmerican WebRing, read this first.

Your page needs to have the following properties:

  1. It must contain AfroAmerican related topics. That can be sports, history, music, personal home page, etc.
  2. It must be suitable for ALL ages.
  3. It must have the HTML-code in its source.

How to become a AAWR member

  2. Copy the HTML-code that was sent to you and paste it into your page.
  3. Send me an e-mail letting me know when the HTML code has been added to your site.

To better promote your site, you should add meta tags. Most major search engines (including Soul Search) use these to add your site to their database. To help you with this, we have a FREE meta tag generator for you to use. Just place them after your "title" tags.

Notice: You have 10 days from today to add the HTML tags to your site and notify the ringmaster that your site is ready to join the ring. After 10 days, the server will remove your site from queue. If your site is removed from queue, it does not mean that you can not reapply to the AAWR, it just means that your site number might be reassigned to another site. After the ten day period, if you still want to join the AAWR, just reapply. If you do not receive the HTML via E-Mail in 24 hours please inform the ringmaster.

If you are on America OnLine (AOL) and have problems getting the AAWR HTML to work, just e-mail the AAWR AOL Support Person for assistance.

Step 2:HTML-code

After you have submitted your site, you will be e-mailed the required HTML code you need to add to your web site. It will contain your site ID number and e-mail address. The AAWR logo or banner is optional.

Step 3:Send me an e-mail

When you're finished copying this HTML-code, you will have to e-mail the ringmaster letting me know you are ready to enter your site into the ring.

Step 4:Receive an email

The fourth step is the easiest; just wait until you receive a response from the ringmaster, that you've been added to the AfroAmerican WebRing (AAWR).
